Indigo 150/180x120cm panje antique
The indigo fabrics made by the Dogon tribe in Mali, have recently been recognized by UNESCO as part of the World’s Heritage. The stunning indigo fabrics are created by a women-organized, local co-operative. The natural indigo dye is made of the fermented leaves of the indigo bush and gives the fabrics their characteristic, intense, dark blue colour which is associated with power, magic and divinity. The beautiful symbolic motifs come to life by the traditional printing techniques that are used, such as tie-dye, batik and block printing. VAN VERRE contributes to the development of the region by sending orders regularly to the women that share their knowledge among the community, to maintain this unique craft and expertise. Bring a little Indigo magic into your life and support the Dogon women, so that they can make a better living.
