Have you ever witnessed the traditional art of block printing? This age-old craft is carried out with handmade wooden block stamps which are hand pressed into beautiful patterns onto fabric. The Monsoon placemat in unbleached organic cotton is printed by hand in a small workshop in India. Two sisters started this new workshop where experienced craftsmen blockstamp each tablecloth individually. Block by block the pattern is created per placemat and finished off with a block printed border in a contrasting colour. Traditionally the women in the workshop are sewing the linens and the men carry out the craft of block printing. Monsoon placemats come in a small delicate cotton bag so we keep it plastic free. You can combine the placemats with matching table linen & napkins which are also finished with a block print border.
